Developed strategy for building the Foundation’s public image as a science education and consumer advocacy organisation and oversaw all external communications. Trained leaders and staff to communicate effectively through the media, and worked with field staff to develop issue-driven campaigns that won positive coverage within both social media and traditional media.

Led media relations for a newly-formed trade union through a period of high stakes and intense activity, earning more than 70 favourable news stories in the first five months. Defined the organisation’s public identity by developing message guidelines, producing press materials, and creating the union’s web site (NUHW.org). Wrote speeches, email blasts, and talking points for top union officers and rank-and-file leaders. Designed mail pieces and field leaflets for new organising and union choice campaigns.
